OUR INSPIRATION


We are privately owned and run by Jennifer O’Donnell, the granddaughter of Jane Jefferson, the wonderful lady behind the name of our brand.

In 1927, Jane went into service, as a housemaid at Lytham Hall, Lytham St.Annes, Blackpool. During her years in service, she was known for her exceptionally high standards, her integrity and her belief in worker rights.

Jane had a huge influence on Jennifer, teaching her valuable skills in cleaning and the importance of ethical employment.


She sowed the seed for Jennifer to create a company that would mirror her impeccable standards and genuinely value their staff.

We’ve always admired Jane Jefferson’s approach to life and that’s why she continues to inspire the business we operate today.

We carefully select our staff so we can provide expert cleaners and assure you that your property is within safe hands.
We’ve created our “A-B-C cleaning” system, so we can clean according to your specific commercial or domestic needs.

Our Workforce

Recognised by The Living Wage Foundation

Jane Jefferson Cleaning was the first domestic cleaning company to be recognised by The Living Wage Foundation in November 2013. We subsequently won the London Regional Award for The Best Living Wage Employer in 2015. We carefully select our cleaning team by conducting face-to-face interviews and a cleaning test. All our employees are required to provide four types of ID:

  • Photo ID e.g. passport or identity card.
  • Proof of address e.g. bank statement or utility bill from the last 3 months.
  • Work Visa (if relevant)
  • A minimum of 2 references
  • Where applicable, staff are required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Application.

We provide regular training, on-going career development and regular performance reviews. We invest in our team so they feel supported and motivated at all times.

Our Health and Safety Policy

Health & Safety is at the core of everything we do. We have a highly effective Health & Safety Business Management System outsourcing this area to Peninsular, a professional services firm for SME’s.

We are fully insured with Public Liability Insurance to the value of £2M and employers liability insurance to the value of £10M. We are independently audited by Peninsula on an annual basis.

Our Health & Safety Policy & Environmental Policy can be provided on request.

We aim to deliver environmentally friendly cleaning, whenever possible.
